The OneSky2 Debrief page is now available here.

Event Announcement

Experience all Centre-Positions within the VATSIM Europe Region staffed at least from 1600 to 2200 UTC on March, 8th 2003.

Each country will provide complete staffing for one or two international Airports.

For the second time our three Divisions will cooperate to create a situation seen never before. A whole VATSIM Region online side to side. From Dublin to Ankara, from Moscow to Lisbon and many many more, you will be able to experience ATC and flights around you as in real life; non stop all the way !

If OneSky1 was not a blast wait until you participate on the second one.

Arm your TCAS and be there that evening ;-)

Recommended

There are no special regulations for this evening except for some flight planning recommendations for pilots:

1) Try to perform inter-continent (not national) flights to make proper use of this great and unprecedented service of VATSIM Europe Region controllers, and please be nice and patient ;o) because you are participating in traffic never seen before that is hard to manage by every controller involved.

2) If you use RogerWilco for your voice communications then PLEASE set your Modem Connection speed to "Slow Modem" regardless of how fast your Internet connection speed really is. Otherwise RogerWilco sometimes kind of "abuses" your PC as a server, which gives huge lags to everybody in the same voice room. Thank you!

3) Use ServInfo to check expected ATIS info, Server performances, traffic spread per airport (controller) and many more. Of course the good old WhazzUp is obviously not to be neglected !

4) Controllers in this event (as everywhere) will be expecting pilots to be updated with the latest AIRAC Cycle. Make sure your Navigations equipment is up to date by visiting NAVData website.

5) During the event, ATC OBServers will be asked to disconnect since we will be using the network resources to its maximum this evening. Please show understanding and avoid unnecessary network bandwidth consumption.

Besides this... simply have (realistic) fun !

If you have any questions please post them in the Simflight vatsim-eur forum available via news server subscription, or via the VATSIM Main page > Community > Forum link.

Looking forward to have You with us!

Participants

06 Mar 03:

Pilots are strongly recommended to check the VACC web page of the country they are going to fly to for the latest charts, Notams and news !

Please note Dutch VACC: NOTAM EHAM/Shiphol - Runway changes.

Two of the European UIRs will be manned between 1830 and 2130z as follows:

  • EURE_FSS - Kyprianos Biris (VATEUR1)
  • EURN_FSS - Pedro Sousa (VATEUD1)

There are plans to have someone taking snapshots during the event, as well as collecting data for inputs to the fly-in report.

In addition, there will be at least 2 Supervisors responsible for announcements of VACCs, and monitoring of the servers. This to ensure that any Broadcast messages will come from one single source, and to limit the danger of a server overload (spreading of traffic, if required).

A list of participating Virtual Area Control Centres (VACCs) with all Centre positions guaranteed staffed from 1600 to 2200 UTC, plus Airports staffed with Ground, Tower and Approach/Departure positions, is found below.

The list has started to be populated, and all Division's VACCs are expected to participate ;-)

NEW! Click here for the updated list.

Network

We are in close cooperation with VATSIM Network staff to make sure that, especially during this evening, things will run as smooth as they should regarding network performance. People in charge will be on standby during the whole event.

Participating Division / vACC members will receive further briefing information on the operational part of the event soon.

Thank you,

The VATSIM Europe Region Controllers and Virtual Airline Community
