This event was the materialisation of a "life-long" dream
and combined efforts of many of us who have been here in the virtual
skies
since the early days. This dream came true on October 5th, 2002.
Despite some natural network problems due to temporary server
connectivity issues and procontroller/squawkbox clients not being
designed for such loads, that frustrated controllers and pilots alike
for some of the time, the mere fact that the event broke any previous
network load factors speaks for itself and is nothing but an
unprecedented success.
We all had lots to learn which will go a long way into designing the
future of our hobby. A future that, given the current development plans
with the new client programs (ASRC/Squawkbox3) and updated server FSD
environment, is not too far away.
Total online members reached a staggering 798 concurrent
connections, according to VATSIM5, Harvey Stein, which broke the
previous record of 714. This is the official number as confirmed by
VATSIM Network staff who record connections.

Download an Excel spreadsheet with flight data recovered from
servers during the event. A total of 2005 arrival & departure events
were recorded during the 6 hours of OneSky event. Thanks to Stephen
Odgaard they are presented to you in tabular format with display filters
for each column. If you flew that evening you are in there.
